What is the Great Migration
The annual wildebeest migration, also known as the Great Migration, is a massive, circular movement of over 1.5 million wildebeest, along with hundreds of thousands of zebras and other animals, across the Serengeti plains in Tanzania and the Masai Mara in Kenya, in search of fresh grazing and water.
Perfect time to go
The migration follows a predictable annual cycle, though the exact timing can vary based on rainfall patterns
Calving Season
In January to March, the calving season occurs in the southern Serengeti, where over 8,000 calves are born daily.
River Crossing
The most dramatic part of the migration is the crossing of the Mara River, which is a dangerous but awe-inspiring spectacle.
Predator Season
The migration provides ample opportunities to see predators like lions, cheetahs, and hyenas hunting for prey.
Places to go
The migration takes place in the Serengeti National Park in Tanzania and the Masai Mara National Reserve in Kenya.
